Gifted Wishes Granting Policy
Who is eligible to be a Gifted Wish Recipient? Any person, of any age, who is currently receiving hospice treatment and has a wish, is eligible. A Wish Recipient can be referred by a social worker, a caregiver, or a medical professional. What is required? Our base requirement is that the person receiving the Gifted Wish be receiving hospice treatment. Additionally, we will ask for details about the patient, their condition, their specific wish, why their wish is important to you or to the recipient, as well as a photo of the Wish Recipient during their wish. We will use this information in our media and interviews in an effort to educate people about the philosophy of hospice care and about our work granting Gifted Wishes. We will never use a Wish Recipients full name or identifiable information. The IRS requires that we have the name and address of the Wish Recipient. What types of wishes are not covered? We will not cover or provide means for a Gifted Wish for cremation or funeral expenses, or for the purchase of firearms, or activities that endanger a person’s life such as skydiving, et al. Other considerations: Gifted Wish amounts cannot total more than $3,500.00 per fiscal quarter per hospice location. |
